Hurricane Katrina Hits New Orleans


U.S. Government fails to evacuate the city



It was extreme, utter chaos. Gallons of furious seawater gushed violently down the once quiet west end of the now drowning New Orleans, Louisiana. As criminals looted abandoned stores, the people of the city struggled to live in the flooded environment. Automobiles lay completely underwater, street signs could barely see overtop of the sinking city, and people attempted to catch their breath while sitting in trees (Telegraph, 1). This was it, the day everybody had been dreading for about a week. She was finally here, on August 29, 2005, the deadliest ever to walk over Louisiana. Hurricane Katrina.
